BRITISH CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE (BCC)
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is the national body for a powerful and influential Network of Accredited Chambers of Commerce across the UK; a Network that directly serves not only its member businesses but the wider business community. Every Chamber sits at the very heart of its local business community providing representation, services, information and guidance to its members.
CONFEDERATION OF BRITISH INDUSTRY (CBI)
The CBI is a lobbying organisation for UK business on national and international issues. It helps to create and sustain the conditions in which businesses in the UK can compete and prosper for the benefit of all. The organisation works with the UK government, international legislators and policymakers to help UK businesses compete effectively.
BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS (BAWE)
The British Association of Women Entrepreneurs (BAWE) is a non-profit professional organisation for UK based women business owners affiliated to the world association of women business owners Les Femmes Chefs d'Entreprises Mondiales (FCEM).
BAWE promote British entrepreneurship world wide and includes representation at the Council of Europe (Strasbourg); the United Nations (New York); the OECD (Paris); ILO (Vienna) and the EU (Brussels) whenever 'Women in the Economy' is on the agenda.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FINANCE ASSOCIATION (CDFA)
The CDFA is the UK trade association for Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs). CDFIs are sustainable, independent financial institutions that provide capital and support to enable individuals or organisations to develop and create wealth in disadvantaged communities or under-served markets.
The cdfa's mission is to support the development of a thriving and sustainable community development finance (CDFI) sector that provides finance for disadvantaged and underserved communities and, as a consequence, contribute to the increasing prosperity of these communities.
FEDERATION OF SMALL BUSINESSES (FSB)
The Federation of Small Businesses is the UK's largest campaigning pressure group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms.
Our lobbying arm - led by the Westminster Press and Parliamentary office - applies pressure on MPs, Government and Whitehall and puts the FSB viewpoint over to the media. Policy Managers work alongside Regional Development Agencies to further FSB influence at a regional level.
In addition, Member Services is committed to delivering a wide range of high quality, good value business services to members of the FSB. These services will be subject to continuing review and will represent a positive enhancement to the benefit of membership of the Leading Business Organisation in the UK.
NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF WOMEN'S ORGANISATIONS (NAWO)
The National Alliance of Women's Organisations (NAWO) is an umbrella organisation for over 100 organisations and individuals based in England. All members are concerned to ensure women gain access to their human rights, and to make equality between women and men a reality. Its diverse membership includes: single issue to specialist organisations, faith groups, health centres, arts-based organisations and others offering services and campaigning across a broad range of women's concerns.
THE ATHENA NETWORK
The Athena Network is a networking organisation for women in business.
Athena puts like-minded women together who are passionate about growing and developing their business and provides training and development of its members.
ASIAN WOMEN’S ENTERPRISE (AWE)
A networking organisation that brings Asian Women together. It provides access to support, guidance and reassurance from like minded Asian women.
FATIMA WOMEN'S NETWORK
The FATIMA Women's Network an online resource designed to represent all women's issues at a regional and national level. FATIMA Women's Network aims to bring about positive change in the lives of women and has a distinct focus on women from diverse communities and disadvantaged background.
FATIMA Women's Network represents women's issues at a local and national level, with a view to bring about positive change in the lives of women, and in particular women from diverse communities through consultation, representation and advocacy in local and national policy and all levels of service delivery.
NATIONAL BLACK WOMEN'S NETWORK (NBWN)
The National Black Women's Network champions the advancement of women across all professional disciplines by recognising excellence, promoting leadership and effectively positioning its members at the forefront of the rapidly changing corporate and business world.
The NBWN enables through an extensive range of meetings, workshops and seminars and provide the opportunity to focus on expanding opportunities, develop fresh ideas, learn additional skill sets, achieve new goals and develop confidence in a safe and nurturing network environment.
ACADEMIC
LEHMAN BROTHERS CENTRE FOR WOMEN IN BUSINESS: LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL
The Lehman Brothers Centre for Women in Business is based at London Business School and was established as a joint partnership between London Business School and Lehman Brothers, the investment bank.
The Lehman Brothers Centre for Women in Business provides thought leadership in relation to women in business. The Centre acts as an interface between the world of academia and business and seeks to influence practice and policy through cutting-edge academic research.
THE UK RESOURCE CENTRE FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING
UKRC is funded by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) and is the Government’s lead organisation for the provision of advice, services and policy consultation regarding the under-representation of women in science, engineering and technology (SET).
The UKRC provides a central point of information and advice for industry, academia, professional institutes, education and research councils and for women entering, returning and progressing in SET careers.
The UKRC also contracts work to and builds partnerships with other organisations within the field of gender equality and science, engineering and technology.
THE UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD W:ISE
The University of Salford has developed a programme specifically for women, called W:ISE (Women: Investing in Skills for Entrepreneurship). The project offers training and aims to develop skills to help overcome the barriers faced when running a business.
In addition to traditional workshops and seminars, specific sessions covering issues affecting potential and existing women entrepreneurs are offered, with ongoing mentoring and networking opportunities.
The project provides a flexible learning programme and offers training, employability development, business start-up support and advice to all women - those already running their own business, thinking of setting up in business, returning to work, under-graduates and graduates.
INTERNATIONAL
EUROCHAMBRES WOMEN NETWORK (EWN)
EUROCHAMBRES WOMEN NETWORK (EWN) addresses interests, issues and priorities of all European Chambers‘ women professionals, women entrepreneurs and women in management.
Chambers of Commerce promote the business interests of their members (male and female), and Eurochambres defends the interests of its member associations and their business members, including the female business members.
Given that women face specific problems in their professional careers or when starting an enterprise, particular care needs to be given to the cause of women in business and as entrepreneurs.
CENTER FOR WOMEN'S BUSINESS RESEARCH
The Center for Women's Business Research turns research into knowledge— the most up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge about one of the most dynamic and fastest growing sectors of the U.S. economy: the 10.1 million businesses owned by women.
The Center for Women's Business Research has close relationships with national women business owner organizations, as well as with the distinguished women business leaders in the leadership of our organization and other groups.
