About Us

The National Policy Centre for Women's Enterprise was established as part of the Government’s 2008 Enterprise Strategy to make and disseminate the economic case for the development of women’s enterprise across Government, the broader public sector and the private and third sectors.

More women-led enterprises are needed to increase the stock of businesses and to contribute to economic growth and innovation. The NPCWE was set up to ensure that policy making is informed by lessons from the field and good practice developed both domestically and internationally.

To accomplish its overall mission the Policy Centre will:

  • Influence policy and practice through research and collaboration with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors, nationally and regionally
  • Develop an online knowledge portal for women’s enterprise-related data,  research, collaborative field knowledge and entrepreneurial excellence
  • Develop and commission investigative and evaluative new research of importance to women’s enterprise policy and practice.
